Once we are given the product brief, we will set out to define the product specification, as we will know exactly what needs to be done and how to go about doing it in cost effective way. Sometimes by changing a component, we can bring down the cost of the item considerably, but more importantly giving you a better product.
Is it possible to have double plating on the same item? Yes, double plating can be achieved and it has been done regularly. All you have to do is to indicate to us the area that needs to be plated in your artwork. Once we confirm an artwork has no technical issues, we will proceed with the work, or revised the artwork for you.
What is the difference between Synthetic, Soft, and Hard Enamel? The major differences between these three coloring materials will be in terms of aspect and quality: Synthetic Enamel: will probably be the best material to render bright and flashy colors. Furthermore, the process used enables to give a shiny aspect. Finally, the colors will be leveled even with the metal boarders. The front-side surface of the item will be totally flat. Hard Enamel: distinguishes itself from Soft and Synthetic Enamel. In its primary aspect, Hard Enamel is in powder. It liquefies whenever it is baked. Although the colors will not render as well as Soft and Synthetic Enamel, Hard Enamel will last hundred of year without changing or being scratched. Soft Enamel: is generally used for products of lower quality. It can be recognized easily, as the colors will be in recess compared to the boarders. The boarders will distinctly appear on a first plan.
What would be the best product for the best price? It depends of the artwork. The artwork will define which process will best fit your inquiry between “Printing” and “Stamping”. According to the artwork, and your budget we will then be able to make our best recommendation.
Why does stamping need metal borders? “Cloisonné” is the technical term that designates items with metal borders. In fact, these borders are of major importance in the process. These borders have the purpose of separating each single-colored zone. Before enameling, these borders constitute the cavities that need to be filled out with different color enamel.
Can we stamp stainless steal? Stainless Steal is a very dense material and therefore is an item that is very difficult to stamp, but it is not something that cannot be achieved. During the process of stamping, it is very often that the mold will be damage. We sometimes will prepare several identical molds for the job in question. We usually will quote an additional 5-7 days for such a fall back.
Can stainless steal be plated? Yes, Stainless steel can be plated, but if you want your item to be plated we will recommend you to go with alternative material - like Zinc Alloy or Iron.
Are you able to use Imitation Hard Enamel on a stamped Iron piece? Yes, this can be done. We are one of the very first people to make use of Imitation Enamel with Iron and we have been doing that since 2002. There are several technical aspects that make the process of combining Iron and Synthetic Enamel challenging. Firstly, because Iron rusts easily, it needs to be work on in a very short period of time. Co-ordination in production is of paramount important not to have the Iron material starts its rust process. Therefore, the inline production needs to be just in time (JIT). Secondly, iron is a very dense material and the molds gets easily damaged, but this can be controlled with careful preparation of the mold as well as using a higher quality steel. This means that sometimes the cost of our molds may be slightly more expensive than our competitor. Using Imitation Enamel will give you a beautiful finish and extremely fine final product. One of the processes for finishing the item is to polish and bake the final product.
Why a metal border does require an additional frame when offset printing on Metal items? The CMYK printing is based on 4 colors of reference: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black. But the high definition of this process relies on the fact that these 4 colors are printed on a “white” background. In the case where the printing fits exactly to the outside cutting, the white color covers the whole surface. But if a metal boarder must appear, we will need an additional frame to define the surface to print in white, which will be smaller than the outside cutting. It depends. It is important to realize that the Offset printing and Silkscreen printing are two processes fundamentally different. They are used for different purposes. Offset printing will be used for complex artwork with gradual colors and many details. And Silkscreen printing will be used for simpler artwork with a precise number of colors.
What is the difference between process (offset) printing and silkscreen (spot) printing? First of all, Silkscreen and Offset printing do not refer to the same color guides. Silkscreen printing is done referring to the Pantone color reference. On the other hand, Offset printing refers to the CMYK color reference. Secondly, the two processes are used for different purposes; Silkscreen will be used for artworks with non-gradient printing, while Offset printing will be used for artwork with gradient colors printing (example: a photo picture) Thirdly, the painting colors used for Silkscreen printing is thicker than the one used for Offset printing. Offset printing uses painting colors that are more liquid to get thinner grain and detailed definition.
